New CW Show Arrow – First Trailer

Arrow

Arrow is Here to Clean up the City Arrow Show Notes
The CW have had a Smallville shaped hole to fill in their schedules since this time last year and they are hopping that a spin off from that show will be just the piece that fits. Based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow, this new show follows the character as it was portrayed in Smallville.

Oliver Queen is back after a five year absence caused by a violent shipwreck which left his family and friends thinking he was dead. During the five years he spent along on a deserted island he learned to think and fend for himself and he is now a changed man.

He and his family used to live a decadent lifestyle at the expense of others and while some of his family continue to do so, Queen is determined to put right the wrongs that his family and others created. While he keeps up the appearance of the philandering playboy, he also lives the secret life of the vigilante known as Arrow by night.

Check out the first trailer for Arrow below and look out for more in the run up to the launch of the show on The CW in October.

Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin

Full Name: Anna Helene Paquin
Birth Date 24th July 1982
Birth Place: Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
Notable Shows: True Blood
Notable Characters: Sookie Stackhouse

Anna Paquin was born in Winnipeg, Canada in 1982 but moved with her family to her mother’s native home of New Zealand when she was only four. She is the youngest of three and has an older brother called Andrew and an older sister called Katya.

Anna attended the Raphael House Rudolph Steiner School until she was about nine and then while in New Zealand she attended Hutt Intermediate School. Moving on to secondary education at Wellington Girls’ College but moved with her mother to Los Angeles with her mother following her parents divorce in 1995 and attained her high school diploma at Windward School. She graduated from Windward School in 2000 and went on to study at Colombia University. However, she only managed a year there before her acting career took over and she decided to take a leave of absence to concentrate on acting.

Her acting career happened by accident. In New Zealand in 1991, director Jane Campion was looking for a little girl to play an important role in an upcoming film called The Piano. A newspaper ad was placed asking for girls who were interested to come along to an open audition. It was actually Anna’s sister, Katya who read the ad and went to the audition along with a friend to try out for the part. With nothing better to do, Anna tagged along even though her only previous experience of acting was playing a skunk in a school play. Jane Campion though was impressed with her performance and at nine years old, Anna Paquin was cast as Flora McGrath in the film after she was chosen from over 5000 applicants. As it turned out, Jane Campion wasn’t the only one to be impressed with Anna’s performance as she became the second youngest recipient of an oscar when she won Best Supporting Actress at the age of eleven.

Anna added her name to the books at the William Morris agency but fully intended not to pursue an acting career, but the offers kept coming in, and Anna kept turning them down. However, by 1996 she started to accept a few and appeared in Jane Eyre and Fly Away Home in that year. Later, she also had roles in Amistad, A Walk on the Moon, Hurlyburly, Almost Famous and She’s All That.

In 2000 Anna Paquin hit the big time again when she appeared as Rogue in the Marvel Comics movie X-Men. She also appeared as the same character in the sequel X2 in 2003 and the third film in the franchise X-Men: The Last Stand in 2006.

Following a number of other roles and Emmy Award nomination in 2007, Anna landed the role of Sookie Stackhouse in HBO’s True Blood in 2008, her first television role.

In 2009 she announced her engagement to Stephen Moyer, her co-star in True Blood and at a private ceremony in Malibu, California, they married on 21st August 2010. On 17th April 2012, it was announed that she is expecting her first child with Moyer. The baby is expected in the fall of 2012.

Karen Gillan – Amy’s Exit Will Be an Unexpected One

Amy and The Doctor

So How Will Amy Exit the Doctor’s Life? Doctor Who Show Notes
Talking to Total Film, Doctor Who actress Karen Gillan has said that her exit from the show probably won’t be an exit that the fans are expecting and it will also be an emotional storyline.

"I literally couldn’t read it without crying,” she said. “It was the most highly charged read-through I’ve ever experienced. But I couldn’t have asked for a better exit. I don’t think it’ll be what people expect.”

When asked about the possibility of there being a Doctor Who movie she lent her support and said “I think it would be great in a franchise-y sort of way. I’d look forward to sitting down and watching it.” But when pushed about whether or not she would appear in it if an offer was made she replied, “Oh, who knows. I guess you can only cross that bridge when you come to it!"

Both Karen Gillan who playes Amy Pond and Arthur Darvill who plays Rory will exit Doctor Who half way through the forthcoming 7th season and their final episode together recently concluded filming in New York.

Don’t worry though, the Doctor won’t be without a companion for too long, Jenna Louise Coleman will become the new Doctor Who Girl during the 2012 Christmas special.

Is Jericho Going to be Resurrected?

Jericho

Will Jericho Rise from the Dust? Jericho Show Notes
One of the biggest problems when starting to watch certain shows is trying to determine whether or not you should become attached. Fans of a number of shows in the last few years will tell you that they no longer want to become too invested in a new show for fear of it being cancelled before the story has been properly told.

Recent examples of TV shows that have developed a loyal fan base, only for their favourite show to be cancelled would be Firefly, Arrested Development and Jericho. All of these shows, critics and fans alike will tell you, were cancelled too early.

Well, a relatively new company in the World of television looks like it might become the saviour of cancelled shows. Netflix, the instant streaming company recently did a deal that will see Arrested Development’s long awaited (the show was cancelled by Fox in 2006) fourth season premiere on the Netflix streaming service some time next year.

Now, the buzz has started again, since it was made known that talks are ongoing about the possibility of Netflix picking up Jericho. Nothing has been decided yet and we can only hope but it makes sense for Netflix to increase it’s customer base by resurrecting shows that have a strong fan base. We wait with baited breath.

For example, having taken over as the new Alpha, Derek needs to cement his position and recruit new members to join the pack to make him even stronger, and without Derek being around to help Scott, Stiles needs to get more involved in the werewolf World.

On the flip side, Allison is training hard, and we mean hard, to become more involved in the family business. Lookout for more of a badass Allison in season 2 who will also have the tricky problem of keeping her relationship with Scott a secret at the same time.

And finally, don’t forget about Lydia and Jackson. Their fates will be explored too. And while all this is going on, Scott will still be searching for a cure.

So, lots to look forward to in season 2 from June 3rd (It will air on Living in the UK soon). In the meantime, check out the season 2 trailer below and when you’re done with that watch a sneak preview of the first ten minutes of season 2 here.
