It’s 1978 and a young girl with Downs Syndrome stands in front of an old Victorian house. Suddenly an upstairs window breaks because two boys have been throwing rocks. The boys are weilding baseball bats. The girl warns them, "you’re going to die in there." The boys tell her to shut up but she issues another warning. "You’re going to regret it."

Predictably the boys enter the old house and set about it with the bats, smashing up everything in sight. Hearing a noise they decide to investigate and end up in the basement. After discovering what look like specimen jars, which of course they smash up, one of them decides to head back upstairs. However, not hearing his brother follow him, he turns to see he isn’t there. A short amount of time searching leads the boy to discover his brother’s body – he’s had his throat cut. A man charges at him….

It’s now present day and the Harmon family are trying to put their past in Boston behind them by moving to California for a new start. The only problem is, that the property they are about to move into is the old Victorian house which, as we have seen has had a past that they are about the start learning about. And so begins the American Horror Story.
