While hunting around the Internet to locate suitable images to use as header graphics for my show pages, I came across a blog which has been setup by George Spigot where he showcases the wallpapers he has created for popular TV shows and movies. He kindly let me use his wallpapers as header graphics for some of my show pages and so I said I would make a feature post showing off some of his work. So here it is. Below you will find just a small selection of Spigot’s work. Click any image for the full size wallpaper. If you would like to see more of Spigot’s work, check out his blog here.

After what seems like an eternity, the wait will be over in a couple of months time. It has been confirmed that Sky Atlantic will premiere season 3 of Game of Thrones the day after the US transmission. So, it will hit our screens on Monday 1st April 2013. The season will be made up of what are described as ten super-sized episodes, and so there will be much more content than ever before in each one. There have been several new additions to the cast for the third season including Torchwood’s Burn Gorman, Dame Diana Rigg, Rome’s Ciaran Hinds, star of The Office Mackenzie Crook and The Walking Dead’s Tara Fitzgerald.

It might be hard to believe but it has been fifty years come 2013 since a funny man calling himself The Doctor stepped out of a blue police box that was bigger on the inside. There have been eleven doctors in all since then and the anniversary is being celebrated by the Royal Mail with the release of a set of eleven new first class stamps, each of which depicts one of the eleven Doctors. There will also be a small sheet of second class stamps which will feature four of The Doctor’s most iconic enemies, the Daleks, the Ood, the Cybermen and the Weeping Angels.

A new official Doctor Who image has been released (above) which gives us a glimpse of the new interior look for the TARDIS, after it was given a bit of a makeover by the production designer for Doctor Who, Michael Pickwoad. The new look will be seen from the Christmas special onwards. The interior of the TARDIS won’t be the only thing that’s new when the Christmas special, called “The Snowmen” airs on Christmas Day at 5.15pm onn BBC1. As well as a new companion, Clara (played by Jenna-Louise Coleman), which we knew about, and quite honestly are looking forward to, there is also a new version of the theme tune and a completely new opening credits sequence. Quite honestly, the Doctor Who Christmas Special is what Christmas Day was made for. I can’t wait.

Revolution Finally Picked Up in UK Revolution Show Notes It has taken a while but finally it has been confirmed that Revolution will air in the UK on Sky 1 early in 2013. The record breaking show has already aired ten episodes in the U.S. but for some reason it has taken ages to cement a deal with a UK channel. A couple of days ago though, Sarah Wright, who is Controller of Acquisitions for Sky Entertainment confirmed in a statement that, “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Warner Bros on this latest project from JJ Abrams. Our customers have always had a strong connection with JJ Abrams’s event series, and we’re confident that Revolution will prove to be a monster hit with them following its record-breaking debut in the US.”

Every year, we are flooded with new shows on television, all of which are expected to scintillate and draw in viewers in an effort to find the next big hit. On the flip side, dozens of shows are canceled each season, be it after a complete run or partway through the season for various reasons, ranging from low ratings to a lack of network support. It seems that every round of cancellations, a venerable favorite of the sci-fi community bites the dust. Some shows are more memorable than others; here are several that most sci-fi fans feel deserve a second chance. Heroes A show about normal people that suddenly discover they possess superpowers, “Heroes” ran on NBC for four seasons, with 77 episodes. The show featured one of the largest casts in U.S. primetime television, with 12 main characters in … Continue reading →

Good news if you enjoyed the first episode of Arrow on Monday night. It has been confirmed by The CW’s president Mark Pedowitz that the show has been picked up for a full 22 episodes for season 1. If you keep an eye on these things, it will probably come as no surprise because Arrow’s premiere was watched by more people than any other show for the last three years. Arrow is currently airing on Sky1 HD on Monday nights.
