Falling Skies

The aliens have invaded and they are using our people and our technology and raw materials against us. Our defences have been overwhelmed and humanity, both civilian and military are split into small groups in an effort to evade detection and in the hope that they can survive long enough to fight back.

Falling Skies focuses on the lives of the men, women and children who are protected by a lightly armed group of military personnel called the 2nd Massachusetts.

Tom Mason is a civilian and in his previous life he was a military history professor. Because of his knowledge of military tactics, Tom has been assigned as a commander within the 2nd Mass. Fighting alongside him is his eldest son Hal. Tom also has to think about the protection of his youngest son Matt, but his top priority at the beginning of the first season is to recover his other son Ben, who has been taken by the aliens, called Skitters, and harnessed. The boys’ mother, Tom’s wife was killed in the initial invasion.

Tom must use his wits and his knowledge of military history to try and out think the alien invaders and figure out ways to gain small victories while always looking for that one weakness that might mean they can deal out a decisive blow and take back the planet.
