Syfy have announced the go ahead for season 5, but have also confirmed that it will be a shortened season enabling the series to wrap up gracefully, as unfortunately, the new season will also be its last. The show will be given six episodes to conclude the story. Filming should begin sometime this Summer and will air sometime in 2014. Mark Stern, president of original content for Syfy stated, “‘Warehouse 13′ has been an incredible signature series for us. We are grateful to the loyal and passionate fan base and know that Jack Kenny, his gifted creative team, and outstanding ensemble cast will give them an amazing finale season.”

The show, although a clever one, has simply been a victim of poor ratings and as Tim Kring recently said, it looks like people have simply not found the show. “In this day and age, when you can find content on so many different platforms, we’re hoping that the second season then feeds into people wanting to watch the first season, finding it online or finding it on DVD,” he said It looks like that hasn’t happened. Good news though, there is the possibility of Kiefer Sutherland returning to the Jack Bauer role for a limited new outing of 24 (deep joy).

TNT have announced that they have given the green light for a ten episode series of The Last Ship, a drama based on the book by William Brinkley and it will be executive produced by Michael Bay (Armageddon, Transformers movies etc etc). The show will star Eric Dane (Grey’s Anatomy), Rhona Mitra (Strike Back), Adam Baldwin (Firefly) and Tracy Middendorf (Boardwalk Empire)

The story centres on the crew of the U.S.S. Nathan James, which has been at sea for four months and has been maintaining radio silence for all of that time. As the ship is about to turn about and head home, radio silence is broken and terrible news reaches the ship for the first time. A Worldwide pandemic, which started in Egypt just before Nathan James left on it’s mission has taken hold and wiped out a large proportion of the World’s population and major governments around the world have collapsed. On board the Nathan James is a scientist who may hold the key to a vaccine, but it seems that there are elements that don’t want her to succeed.

The new mission of the Nathan James is simple. Stay alive, find a cure, and save what’s left of the World. Check out the trailer below.
