To be honest I’m not sure whether or not Da Vinci’s Demons belongs on this site as it’s not really clear whether or not it will contain any scifi or fantasy elements as it hasn’t been shown yet, at least not here in the UK. Oh, what the Hell, it’s got the words Demons in the title, that’ll do. Whatever, it must be a quality show as it opened to 2.14 million viewers in the USA and on the strength of the first episode alone, the Starz network have given the green light for season 2. Production will begin in May and will screen some time in 2014. Starz CEO Chris Albrecht said: “Da Vinci’s Demons serves up action, adventure and history in a unique and highly entertaining way.” “The first season premiered to strong audience engagement and we are … Continue reading →

A combination of FremantleMedia International and Georgeville TV will apparently be making 13 episodes of a new Blake’s 7 for the U.S. Syfy channel. Remakes of Blake’s 7 have been talked about for long time but it finally seems that someone has actually started the wheels in motion. Also on board are Joe Pokaski (Heroes) and director of Green Lantern Martin Campbell. Blake’s 7, which ran from 1978 until 1981 on the BBC in the UK tells the story of a political prisoner who escapes the clutches of ‘the federation’ and steals an advanced spaceship called ‘Liberator’ in order to make good his escape and stay one step ahead of the feds. Along the way he picks up a few strays who join his crew and help him fight back against galactic oppression. Hopefully Syfy will be able to do … Continue reading →

Apparently, the Farscape universe has not been forgotten about by its creator and there is an outside possibility that it could return, possibly in movie form in the same way Serenity did after the cancellation of Firefly. In an interview with the show’s creator Rockne S O’Bannon, Scifi Now magazine turned to conversation to Farscape and he stated that “The ship has not completely sailed”.

This may come as a huge surprise but HBO have confirmed that they have given the green light to a fourth season of Game of Thrones. The news comes hot on the heels of the premiere of season 3 a few days ago, which opened to 4.4 million viewers in the USA and over 700,000 in the UK. Sky Atlantic only managed to pull in 522,000 for the season 2 opener and so the word definitely seems to be getting out about the show. In some sort of back handed compliment, the episode was also the most downloaded show ever on Bittorrent although I really would prefer to see those 163,000 odd viewers get added to the list of legitimate viewers instead. If you are a fan of the show, then show your support by watching it legitimately, not illegally … Continue reading →

As the first three months of 2013 draw to a close and we look forward to (hopefully) warmer days, and of course longer days with the clocks going forward this Saturday, I thought it might be a good idea to take a quick look forward to what treats are in store for us in the world of Fantasy and Scifi TV in April. The headliner of course has to be Game of Thrones, which enters its third season starting at 9pm on Monday 1st April at 21:00. Expect the same visually stunning story telling as before but with a lot more action this time around as the Lannisters, Starks, Baratheons and others continue to battle for the throne while watching over their shoulders for the rise of the White Walkers Also returning to UK screens in April is Touch. The … Continue reading →

Syfy have announced that they have picked up season 2 of Continuum and will aire the season premiere on Friday June 7th at 10pm, which is a different timeslot to the one occupied by the first season. Hopefully that means that the show will hit UK screens around the same time or very soon afterwards. Continuum stars Rachel Nichols as Kiera Cameron, a cop from the future who accidentally travels back in time alongside a bunch of terrorists. With help from a few friends in the present day, she tries to hunt down the terrorists at the same time as trying to find a way back home. The show is produced by Showcase in Canada and the first episode of the 13 episode long second season will actually begin screening there from 21st April.
