Kristin Kreuk was born on the 30th December 1982 in Vancouver, Canada to parents who are both landscape architects. Her father, Peter Kreuk is Dutch and her mother, Deanna Che is Chinese although she was born in Indonesia. Kristin also has a younger sister called Justine.

Kristin is trained in karate and gymnastics and has reached national competitive level until high school. Unfortunately, due to scoliosis, whch is a curvature of the spine, she had to quit in the 11th grade.

In 2001 and through until 2005, Kristin starred as Laurel Yeung in a teenage soap opera set in a Vancouver high school called Edgemont. After finishing shooting the first season, she got herself an agent and landed the lead role in a TV movie version of Snow White. The film was shot in Vancouver and also starred Miranda Richardson.

Following her work on Snow White, Kristin’s agent sent an audition tape to Alfred Gough and Miles Millar who are screenwriters and at the time were putting together the cast for a series they had written for The WB called Smallville. Kreuk auditioned for and won the part of Lana Lang, Clark Kent, aka Superman’s first love interest. Kristin stayed with Smallville until 2008 when her character left town, although she returned to conclude her storyline in Smallville’s eighth season.

In 2009, Kreuk signed on for a multi-episode storyline in Chuck and in 2010 she played Tirzah, the sister of Ben Hur in a TV movie of the same name. In 2012, she was named in the lead role for a new show for The CW which is a reboot of the Beauty and the Beast story.

Kristin Kreuk lives in her hometown of Vancouver, Canada with Dublin her French Bulldog, although in 2011 she bought a home in Los Angeles with boyfriend Mark Hildreth
