| The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle Were Head to Head and Circle Lost |

In the grand scheme of things it is a relative surprise that TheCW saw fit to cancel The Secret Circle as it was the network’s second most popular programme behind The Vampire Diaries, but therein lies the rub. It looks like TheCW found the shows to be too similar and with The Vampire Diaries being the stronger of the two they have decided to redirect resources into it and let The Secret Circle go. It’s a shame really because The Secret Circle was probably heading in the right direction with the promise of a darker second season which of course now won’t happen.
